Dog Access Mark
Cookie Policy
Version 1.0 | Effective 8 September 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Dog Access Mark uses cookies and similar browser technologies on dogaccessmark.co.uk, including technologies used for essential website operation, security, administrator authentication, preferences and website measurement.
This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how Dog Access Mark uses personal information more generally.
1. Who we are
1.1 Dog Access Mark is the independent standards body responsible for the UK National Dog Access Scheme.
1.2 Dog Access Mark is a trading name of MEEKOL LIMITED, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 10736702.
1.3 MEEKOL LIMITED is responsible for the operation of this website and for deciding how cookies and similar technologies are used on it.
2. What are cookies and similar technologies?
2.1 Cookies are small text files placed on a computer, phone or other device when a website is visited. They can be used to make a website work, remember settings, support security or provide information about how a website is used.
2.2 We may also use similar browser technologies which are not technically cookies, including:
- local storage;
- session storage;
- security tokens;
- short-lived browser or device identifiers;
- embedded scripts and browser APIs; and
- server-side activity records.
2.3 References to “cookies” in this policy include similar technologies where appropriate.
3. How we use cookies and similar technologies
| Category | Purpose | How we treat it |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Core website operation, security, form protection, necessary session state and services requested by the user. | Used where genuinely necessary for the website or requested service. |
| Security and anti-abuse | Protects forms, administrator access and website services from bots, fraud, abuse and unauthorised access. | Used where necessary for security. |
| Authentication and session storage | Maintains authorised Dog Access Mark administrator sign-in state and temporary onsite registration handover state. | Used where necessary to provide secure authenticated or session-based functionality. |
| Preferences | Remembers choices such as cookie preferences or other website settings where enabled. | Used to remember choices selected by the visitor. |
| Analytics and measurement | Helps us understand how the National Dog Access Register and website are used. | Where non-essential device storage is used for analytics, consent will be obtained where required. |
4. Strictly necessary technologies
4.1 Some technologies are required for the website to function correctly or to provide a service that you have requested.
4.2 These may be used to:
- deliver pages and website functionality;
- protect forms from automated abuse;
- support secure administrator authentication;
- maintain temporary session state during onsite registration;
- remember cookie or privacy choices where applicable;
- route requests securely; and
- detect and respond to security problems.
4.3 Because these technologies are necessary for the requested service or website security, they may not always be disabled through optional cookie controls.
5. Duda website platform
5.1 The Dog Access Mark website is built and hosted using the Duda website platform.
5.2 Duda may use cookies or similar technologies required to deliver website functionality, security, privacy controls or other platform features enabled on the site.
5.3 Where the website uses Duda privacy or cookie controls, those controls may themselves need to remember a visitor’s privacy choices.
5.4 Dog Access Mark will seek consent where required before using non-essential cookies or similar technologies.
6. Cloudflare Turnstile
6.1 Dog Access Mark uses Cloudflare Turnstile on relevant forms to help distinguish genuine users from automated or abusive traffic.
6.2 Turnstile may process browser, device, network and interaction signals to perform its security check.
6.3 Depending on Cloudflare’s technology and the configuration in use, Turnstile may use temporary browser storage, short-lived identifiers or cookies for security purposes. Certain Cloudflare configurations can also use a clearance cookie.
6.4 Turnstile is used for security and anti-abuse purposes, not behavioural advertising.
7. Supabase authentication and browser storage
7.1 Dog Access Mark uses Supabase for database, authentication, storage and backend functionality.
7.2 The Dog Access Mark Admin system uses Supabase authentication. In the current browser-based configuration, authorised administrator session information may be stored in the browser’s local storage so that the secure session can persist appropriately.
7.3 This authentication storage is used for authorised administrator access and is not used to track ordinary public website visitors for advertising.
7.4 Temporary onsite registration handover information may also be stored in the browser’s session storage. Session storage is generally removed when the relevant browser session ends, although exact behaviour depends on the browser.
8. Address search and postcode services
8.1 Certain Dog Access Mark forms use Ideal Postcodes to help users search for and select a business address.
8.2 We may also use postcodes.io to derive approximate map coordinates from a postcode where required for register functionality.
8.3 Use of these services involves communication between the user’s browser and the relevant service. These providers may receive technical request information necessary to deliver the service.
8.4 These services are used for address and location functionality and not by Dog Access Mark for behavioural advertising.
9. Website analytics and Scheme measurement
9.1 Dog Access Mark uses privacy-minimised analytics to understand how the National Dog Access Register and public website are used.
9.2 The information recorded may include:
- register searches;
- search result selections;
- Business Profile views;
- Dog Access ID checks;
- business website, telephone or email link interactions;
- application starts and submissions;
- broad search areas;
- selected business categories and types; and
- Dog Access ID lookup outcomes.
9.3 Some of this measurement can be carried out through server-side records without placing a tracking cookie on the user’s device.
9.4 If Dog Access Mark enables non-essential cookie-based analytics or similar tracking technology, we will seek consent before using it where required by law.
9.5 We do not use Dog Access Mark analytics to build advertising profiles of ordinary website visitors.
10. Advertising and social media cookies
10.1 Dog Access Mark does not currently use the website to place behavioural advertising cookies for the purpose of targeting visitors with personalised advertising.
10.2 We do not currently use social media tracking pixels for behavioural advertising through the Dog Access Mark website.
10.3 If this changes, this Cookie Policy and the website’s consent controls will be updated as appropriate before such technologies are used.
11. First-party and third-party technologies
11.1 A first-party cookie is set by the website domain you are visiting. A third-party cookie is set by another organisation whose technology is included on the website.
11.2 The Dog Access Mark website may interact with third-party services including Duda, Cloudflare, Supabase and address or infrastructure providers.
11.3 Whether a particular service sets a cookie, uses local storage or relies on another technical mechanism can depend on its configuration, the page being used, the visitor’s browser and the provider’s current technology.
12. Session and persistent storage
12.1 Session cookies are normally deleted when the browser session ends.
12.2 Persistent cookies remain on the device for a defined period or until deleted manually.
12.3 Browser local storage can remain until removed by the website, application or user. Session storage normally lasts for the browser tab or session.
12.4 The duration of a particular cookie or storage item depends on its purpose and the service that provides it.
13. Your cookie choices
13.1 Where the website displays cookie or privacy controls, you can use those controls to make the choices offered to you.
13.2 Non-essential cookies or similar technologies that require consent should not be used until the required consent has been obtained.
13.3 You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- view stored cookies;
- delete individual or all cookies;
- block cookies from particular websites;
- block third-party cookies; or
- configure how cookies are handled.
13.4 Blocking strictly necessary cookies or browser storage may cause parts of the website, secure Admin area, forms or other functionality to stop working correctly.
13.5 Browser controls may also allow you to clear local storage and session storage.
14. Consent and legal requirements
14.1 Some cookies and similar technologies are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user, operate security controls or make the website function.
14.2 Where UK law requires consent before storing or accessing information on a user’s device for a non-essential purpose, Dog Access Mark will seek that consent before using the relevant technology.
14.3 Where consent is used, you can withdraw or change that consent through the available website controls or browser settings, subject to the limitations of those controls.
15. Changes to the technologies we use
15.1 Website platforms and third-party services can change the names, duration and technical behaviour of their cookies and browser storage over time.
15.2 Dog Access Mark may also add, remove or reconfigure website functionality.
15.3 We will review and update this Cookie Policy where reasonably necessary to reflect material changes in our use of cookies and similar technologies.
15.4 Where a cookie consent tool provides a current cookie list or preference centre, that information should be read together with this policy because it may provide more granular technical details about cookies detected on the website at that time.
16. Privacy and personal information
Cookies and similar technologies can involve the processing of personal information, particularly where an identifier, IP address or other device information can relate to an individual.
For more information about how we use personal information, your rights and how to contact us, read our Privacy Policy.
